I can tell you something else that makes the HP generation 8 server special.

With the advent of what I can only describe as the fantastic new HP Z1 Workstation (due to ship next month), it’s worth revisiting a question I’ve heard a lot: Is there really any difference between a workstation and a high-spec PC?

At the end of the day, doesn’t a top of the range, highest-possible-spec PC deliver exactly the same computing resource as a so-called workstation?

It’s easy to see why this question is still asked, even though people in the IT industry know the answer is clear.

The launch of Windows 8 later this year is, without doubt, going to be massive game changer.

And that potentially applies to any company that uses IT in the workplace.

But first let me say that I’ve had a play with the new Windows operating system – admittedly only the beta developer’s version – but I can already tell you I have no doubt it’s going to be a winner.
